Indus Motor Company (IMC) sponsored a ‘Toyota Team’ comprising students from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology to participate in the 2009 Shell Eco Marathon in Berlin.
The Marathon is a global competition to design and build a vehicle that uses the least amount of fuel to travel the farthest distance. The Toyota Team participated in the Urban Concept category, which calls for scaled down versions of normal cars. Toyota Team won the ‘3rd Best Communication Award’ out of 80 nominee teams.
Mr Parvez Ghias, CEO, Indus Motor Company, speaking at a reception held for the team at Toyota’s plant, congratulated the team, and mentioned that as an automobile company, Indus Motor strives to strengthen the relationship between the industry and academic institutions.
Mr Zaiviji Ismail, Country Chairman Shell Pakistan, during his address appreciated the efforts of Toyota Team for supporting this worthy initiative and for highlighting the positive image of Pakistan at a global forum. He said that Shell and IMC have collaborated on a number of CSR initiatives and hoped that this partnership will continue in the future as well.
