In the last week of December 2006, IMC cricket team visited Lahore to play three festival matches under the captainship of Mr. Niaz Mehmood Khan. They won all three matches.
On Sunday, December 24th IMC played its first match against the combined Central Dealers Cricket Team comprising of players form dealerships in Multan, Sialkot and Lahore at Cricket Centre, Model Town Ground. IMC fielded first and restricted the opposition to 97 runs. With Zeeshan-ul-Haq’s unbeaten 53 runs, IMC achieved the target with 5 wickets in hand.
In the 2nd match, IMC team won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 145 runs with the help of Shah Saad’s aggressive and unbeaten 73 runs supported by skipper Niaz’s 28 runs. The opposition could not stand against the powerful bowling of IMC and collapsed at 45 runs.
In the end, Shaikh Naseem, CEO, Toyota Township Motors and Shah M Saad Husain, Director, IMC distributed the prizes.
IMC presented plaques and mementoes to the players, umpires and scorers. Shah M Saad Husain presented a special plaque to Shaikh Naseem.
On Monday, December 25 2006, IMC played the final match against the combined team of Trafco Tracking, Bank Alfalah and Faisal Bank at the same venue.
The combined opposition team batted well and set a challenging target of 182 runs for IMC in the limited 30 overs. In reply, IMC's Raza Baqri and Shah Saad played well and scored 62 and 36 runs respectively. The target was achieved in the last over of the match with 5 wickets in hand.
Shah Saad Husain was awarded Man of the Match again for taking 3 wickets and scoring 36 valuable runs.
Apart from Chairman, Trafco Tracking Pakistan Limited and Senior Executives of Bank Alfalah and Faisal Bank, the Minister of Tourism was also present as the Chief Guest. IMC Cricket Team received the Winning Trophy from the Chief Guest.
At night, the organizers hosted a grand dinner at the Royal Palm Resort followed by a city tour for the IMC team. The victorious IMC cricket team returned back to Karachi on 27th December fully utilizing the holidays of Dec 24 and 25 and the plant shut down holidays in a very memorable trip. This was indeed one of the best ex-Karachi performances by the IMC Cricket Team.
