President, Toyota Motor AsiaPacific visits Indus Motor - Jun 12, 2008
Ryoichi Sasaki, President, Toyota Motor AsiaPacific, who has regional responsibility for Engineering, Manufacturing and Marketing, visited Indus Motor Company (IMC) on June 11, 2008. During his two day visit, he toured the plant and reviewed the ongoing projects of the company, which are part of a long term technology transfer strategy that Indus has embarked on to enhance inhouse manufacturing, increased localization, and production efficiency. Sasaki was also given detailed presentations by various departments of IMC.
Sasaki praised IMC on achieving the milestone of over 50,000 vehicle sales in the year 2007 and appreciated the company for increasing its production capacity to meet the demand for its vehicles. He reiterated Toyota’s ongoing commitment and support to IMC for further expanding production facilities and acknowledged the efforts of the Indus Team for continuously improving their skills and their efforts for building quality cars.
During his visit, Sasaki inaugurated the impressive 1400 sq meters Training Center, which will provide core trainings as well as multiskill development. He also noted that cumulatively, since inception, over a million manhours of training had been done by Indus to enhance the capabilities of its team. Sasaki also inaugurated the modern, state of the art, Vehicle Display Center at MakroHabib on ShahraheFaisal, Karachi, which will display top of the range Toyota vehicles.
Ali S. Habib (Chairman, Indus Motor Company) thanked Sasaki for visiting Pakistan and appreciated Toyota Motor Asia Pacific’s role in supporting Indus Motor, both in becoming a major automobile manufacturer as well as a significant contributor to the economy of Pakistan.
