Chairman, Toyota Tsusho visits Indus Motor - May 17, 2008
M Furukawa, Chairman, Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC), Japan which is part of the Toyota Group, recently visited the Indus Motor Company. He was accompanied by the senior officials of IMC during the plant visit, where he was briefed on the manufacturing processes and was given a presentation highlighting IMC’s performance and milestones. He also reviewed the ongoing expansion projects of the company which include a press plant for making car body parts, automations of production line, etc which are part of a long term technology transfer strategy that Indus has embarked on to enhance inhouse manufacturing, increased localization, and production efficiency.
Furukawa praised IMC’s performance in production of Toyota and Daihatsu vehicles at the plant. He appreciated the company for increasing its production capacity to meet the demand for its vehicles, through transfer of technology from Japan, which in turn provided more employment opportunities and increased the skill level via training. He commented on Pakistan’s Automobile market and said, “Pakistan’s Auto Market has good potential with future growth opportunities”. Furukawa also presented an award to IMC Management on achieving the milestone of over 50,000 vehicle sales in the year 2007. He reiterated TTC’s ongoing commitment and support to IMC for further expanding production facilities.
Ali S. Habib (Chairman, Indus Motor Company) thanked Furukawa for visiting Pakistan and appreciated Toyota Tsusho Corporation’s role in supporting Indus Motor both in becoming a major automobile manufacturer as well as a significant contributor to the economy of Pakistan.
