Indus Motor holds 14th Kaizen Convention - Sep 14, 2007
Indus Motor Company (IMC) held its 14th Annual Kaizen Convention recently at the Karachi Expo Centre. Shahab Anwar Khwaja, Federal Secretary, Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives, was the Chief Guest. The convention was attended by over 2000 people, including IMC Vendors, Dealers and business partners, eminent personalities from the automobile and engineering industry, educational institutions, government officials and the entire team of Indus Motor Company.
While congratulating IMC’s efforts on achieving the milestone of 50,000 vehicles salesyear, Shahab Khwaja appreciated the company’s implementation of Kaizen and the world famous Toyota Production System, noting that Kaizen culture is also being implemented at the company’s vendors and dealerships. He also lauded the outstanding social contribution that IMC is making in various sectors.
Parvez Ghias, CEO, Indus Motor, in his welcoming address, highlighted the positive role of Kaizen at IMC and its Dealer and Vendor family. Taken from the Japanese words Kai, meaning “change”, and Zen, meaning “better”, KAIZEN is a very effective management tool employed globally. Improvement in product quality, process economy, teamwork and safety are the main benefits of KAIZEN. He recapped the accomplishments of the company during the past year and also shared the objectives for the coming year. He lauded the efforts and contribution of the whole Indus team.
Indus Kaizen Convention is held every year to acknowledge efforts of the Kaizen teams of Indus, its Vendors and Dealers. This year 14 presentations were made by various Kaizen teams including those from IMC Vendors and Dealers. The First Prize went to the “Achievers” team from Production Weld Shop for elimination of job fatigue in production line through process modification. Amongst Vendors and Dealers, Omar Jibran Engineering Industries Ltd’s “Trendsetter” team got the prize for their Kaizen activities in Bumper manufacturing.
