2nd Career Day of Toyota Technical Education Program(TTEP) - Dec 11, 2006
Karachi, December 11, 2006: Indus Motor Company held the Second Toyota Technical Educational Program (TTEP) Career Day at St. Patrick Institute of Science and Technology. Professor Dr. Muzzaffar Mahmood, Pro Vice Chancellor, NED University of Engineering and Technology was the Chief Guest. Participants included people from the automobile industry, the educational fraternity, automobile vendors, dealers and representatives of Indus Motor Company and Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan.
Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan and Indus Motor Company, as a good corporate citizen and to promote technical education in Pakistan, have established the Toyota Technical Educational Program (TTEP). TTEP involves upgrading the syllabi of automobile engineering, providing training material and equipment, simulators, training the trainers, audio visual aids, etc. This is the second TTEP institute set up in Pakistan; the first was set up four years ago at the Government College of Technology, Lahore and the second at St. Patrick’s Institute of Science and Technology in Karachi.
The Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Muzzaffar Mahmood lauded the important role that TTEP plays in bridging the gap between industry and technical education and expressed his satisfaction in programs such as these, which serve the community and are beyond any commercial consideration. Additionally, he thanked Toyota Motor Corporation and Indus Motor Co in this pioneering effort.
Parvez Ghias, CEO Indus Motor Company, speaking at the occasion, emphasized that the auto industry and its dealers should induct high achievers, as the need of the day is to induct educated and bright youngsters at the entry level, who would become the leaders of tomorrow. TTEP is playing an important role in this direction.
The speeches were followed by recruitment interviews in which 21 graduating students were short listed for employment by Indus Motor Company and the Toyota Dealership Network and will start their On Job Training (OJT) soon. To date, several hundred TTEP students have graduated and found jobs in Pakistan. Since the inception of TTEP in 1990, Indus Motor Company has provided training in the latest automobile technology to TTEP students and has also arranged annual career days for hiring TTEP graduates.
