Indus Motor holds 13th Kaizen Convention - Sep 16, 2006
Karachi, September 16, 2006: Indus Motor Company held its 13th Kaizen Convention. This is an annual event to acknowledge the efforts of the Kaizen teams, its Vendors and Dealers.

This year, 15 presentations were made by various Kaizen teams including those from IMC Vendors and Dealers. These presentations discussed how Kaizen practices have helped organizations reduce costs, enhance productivity and improve team work. The First Prize went to the “Innovators” team from Indus Assembly Shop for their Kaizen in enhancing capacity utilization of the Hilux line. Amongst Vendors, AuVitronics “Performers” team got the prize for improving their quality assurance system. Amongst dealers, Toyota Southern Motors, “Quality Initiators” team got the prize for enhancing Customer Satisfaction by implementing TWSM (Toyota Way of Sales & Marketing).

Danishmand (Dean & Director, Institute of Business Administration) was the Chief Guest at the convention. He congratulated Indus Motor on its management practices and on implementing Toyota Production System. Commenting on Toyota’s Kaizen philosophy, he said “Kaizen practices if implemented by other manufacturers, will not only provide them benefits, but will also raise quality, productivity and output on a national level”.

Parvez Ghias (CEO, Indus Motor Company) in his welcoming address highlighted the positive role of Kaizen at IMC as well as its Dealer and Vendor family. Taken from the Japanese words Kai, meaning “change” and Zen, meaning “better”, KAIZEN is a very effective production management tool employed globally. Improvement in product quality, process economy, teamwork and safety are the main benefits of KAIZEN.

The convention was attended by a large audience including vendors, dealers, eminent personalities from the automobile industry, educational institutions, government officials and the entire team of Indus Motor Company.
