Indus Motor holds 12th Kaizen Convention - Oct 1, 2005
Karachi, October 01, 2005: Indus Motor Company recently held its 12th Kaizen Convention. Mr. Mian M Mansha, Chairman, Muslim Commercial Bank and Pakistan’s leading industrialist was the Chief Guest.
Mr. Mian M Mansha congratulated Indus Motor on its recent efforts aimed at capacity expansion. He appreciated the company’s contribution to the government exchequer, creating job opportunities and facilitating technology transfer. Commenting on Toyota’s Kaizen philosophy, Mr. Mansha said “It is no surprise that Toyota has been ranked as the world’s most admired automobile company by Fortune Magazine”.
Ali S Habib, Chairman Indus Motor, mentioned that in view of the continued strong demand for Toyota products, IMC is committed to enhance capacity. He appreciated the efforts made by the Indus Motor team and its vendors for promoting and practicing Kaizen in their organizations and stressed the need to continue to focus on customer satisfaction.
Taken from the Japanese words Kai, meaning change, and Zen, meaning good, KAIZEN, beyond doubt is a very effective management tool employed globally. Efforts for improvement in product quality, process economy & safety are the main pillars of KAIZEN which not only benefits the individual and the organization but has a snow ball effect on the over all national productivity.
The IMC Kaizen convention is held every year to acknowledge the efforts of the Kaizen teams of IMC, its Vendors and Dealers. This year 13 presentations were made by various Kaizen teams including those from IMC Vendors and Dealers. The first prize went to the “Innovators” team for their efforts in quality improvement in windshield installation process. Amongst Vendors, Thal Engineering’s “Persevere” team got the fist prize for reducing assembly defects in corolla condenser by 50%.
The convention was attended by a large audience, vendors, dealers, senior management from Toyota Motor Corporation and Daihatsu Motor Company, Japan, eminent personalities from the automobile industry, educational institutions, government officials, and the entire team of Indus Motor Company.
