Indus Motor Company (IMC) organized the 4th Career Day for graduating students of the Toyota Technical Educational Program (TTEP) in Karachi at St Patrick’s Institute of Science & Technology. Senator Prof M Saeed Siddiqui, Chairman, Sindh Board of Technical Education was the Chief Guest for the ceremony. Other participants included representatives from the automobile industry, academicians, automobile vendors, dealers and representatives of Indus Motor Company and Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan.



The Chief Guest, while addressing the gathering, lauded the efforts of Indus Motor Company and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), saying that TTEP had worked to bridge the gap between industry and technical education. He appreciated the program, which serves the community and is beyond any commercial consideration.



Mr Koji Hyodo, Vice Chairman, IMC, in his speech highlighted that the TTEP program at St Patrick’s Institute had been successfully running for the past four years. He stated that Toyota believes in Respect for People and Kaizen (Continuous Improvement), with an aim to create a winwin situation for all the stakeholders, especially in human resource development. Mr Hyodo added that Toyota’s global success has come through innovation, technology development, team work and recognizing the market requirement.



Mr Parvez Ghias, CEO, IMC, stated that the world has changed and the Global Economy is in recession. The auto industry is amongst the hardest hit by the global economic downturn and Pakistan has seen an unprecedented decline in automobile sales. He emphasized that in this challenging environment after sales service is of even more importance. The knowledge gained by the TTEP graduates should be effectively utilized for winning over customers through high quality service.



The Toyota Technical Education Program (TTEP)

The Toyota Technical Education Program is a global initiative which was introduced in Pakistan in the year 2000. Toyota Motor Corporation supports IMC in this very successful training program, in which automobile diploma holders are provided advanced training in the latest automobile technology. TTEP Career Days, held regularly across the country, provide IMC, its Dealers and Vendors the opportunity to recruit student technicians. In the current TTEP Career Day 15 graduating students were selected in Karachi for employment in IMC, Toyota Dealership Network and Vendors. To date, several hundred TTEP students have graduated and found jobs in Pakistan.
