Indus Motor launches 3rd Toyota Technical Education Program - Feb 27, 2009
Indus Motor Company Limited selected the Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI), Islamabad to launch its 3rd Toyota Technical Education Program (TTEP) to cater to the needs of the northern region of the country. The inauguration ceremony was recently held at CTTI and His Excellency Mr. Chihiro Atsumi, Ambassador of Japan was the Chief Guest for the ceremony. Other participants included representatives from the automobile industry, academicians, automobile vendors, dealers and representatives of Indus Motor Company and Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan.
The Chief Guest, while addressing the gathering, lauded the efforts of Indus Motor Company and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), saying that TTEP provided a means to uplift technical and vocational standards in the automobile trade and had worked to bridge the gap between industry and technical education. He appreciated the program, which serves the community and is beyond any commercial consideration.
Mr Yutaka Arae, Advisor to Chairman, IMC, in his speech mentioned that Toyota believes in Kaizen (Continuous Improvement) with an aim to create a winwin situation for all the stakeholders, especially in the area of human resource development. Mr Arae added that Toyota’s global success has come through innovation, technology development, team work and recognizing the market requirement.
Mr Parvez Ghias, CEO, IMC, stated that the 3rd TTEP Institute is a welcome addition to the network. He highlighted that as a good corporate citizen, IMC participates in a number of educational initiatives in continuous learning. The Company allocates 1% of Profit before Tax each year for CSR. Mr Ghias emphasized that the world has changed and the Global Economy is in recession. The auto industry is amongst the hardest hit by the global economic downturn and Pakistan has seen an unprecedented decline in automobile sales. He stressed that in this challenging environment after sales service is of even more importance and the knowledge gained by the TTEP graduates should be effectively utilized for winning over customers through high quality service.
The Toyota Technical Education Program (TTEP)
The Toyota Technical Education Program is a global initiative which was introduced in Pakistan in the year 2000. Toyota Motor Corporation supports IMC in this very successful training program, in which automobile diploma holders are provided advanced training in the latest automobile technology. A number of TTEP graduates are recruited by IMC, its Dealers and Vendors during Career Days. To date, several hundred TTEP students have graduated and found jobs in Pakistan. Prior to the launch of the 3rd TTEP Program at CTTI, Islamabad there were two other functioning TTEP Programs at St. Patricks, Karachi and Govt. College of Technology, Lahore.
