Sr Managing Director, Toyota starts New Corolla Production - Jun 8, 2008
Dr K Ina, Senior Managing Director, Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan visited Indus Motor Company. During his two day visit on August 5 and 6, he reviewed the plant and the ongoing projects of the company. Indus has embarked on a long term strategy to enhance inhouse manufacturing, increased localization, and production efficiency improvement.



During his visit, Ina inaugurated the Line Off Ceremony that marks the start of production for the New Corolla. This New Corolla model is to be launched later in the month. ‘Pakistan has the highest sales of Corolla in the Asia, Oceania and the Middle East Region’, stated Ina during the ceremony. Appreciating the new model, being made at IMC, he said it is a modern, young and very stylish car, embodying the traditional Toyota DNA of Quality, Reliability and Durability. Ina was confident that this new model Corolla will break even the previous Corolla’s sales record.



Ina praised the skills and efforts of the Indus Team on achieving the milestone of over 50,000 vehicle sales in the last fiscal year and appreciated the company for increasing its production capacity to meet the growing demand for its vehicles in a market that has declined last year. He reiterated Toyota’s ongoing commitment and support to IMC for further expanding production facilities. Toyota Motor Corporation has recently increased its equity in IMC from 12.5% to 25%. During his visit, Ina inaugurated the 2000 ton inhouse Hydraulic Press which is also the largest in Pakistan’s auto industry, for the production of body parts for the New Generation Corolla.



Ali S Habib, Chairman, Indus Motor Company thanked Ina for visiting Pakistan and appreciated Toyota Motor Corporation’s role in supporting Indus Motor, both in becoming a major automobile manufacturer as well as a significant contributor to the economy of Pakistan.
