KARACHI : Akio Toyoda, the grandson of “ Toyota’s founder” and the Executive Vice President, Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan recently visited the Indus Motor Company and was accompanied by senior officials during the plant visit, where he was briefed on the manufacturing processes and was given a presentation highlighting IMC’s performance and milestones.
Toyoda praised IMC’s performance in production of Toyota and Daihatsu vehicles at the plant and also congratulated the company on increasing its production capacity nearly four times in the last four years to meet the tremendous demand of its vehicles, through transfer of technology from Japan, which in turn provided more employment opportunities and increased the skill level via training. He also commented on the growth of the automobile market and the influx of new manufacturers. “ I am optimistic about Pakistan's Automobile Industry which has developed substantially in recent years and I anticipate that it will continue to grow in the future,” said Akio Toyoda.
Ali S. Habib (Chairman, Indus Motor Company) thanked Akio Toyoda for visiting Pakistan and appreciated Toyota Motor Corporation’s role in supporting Indus Motor both in becoming a major automobile manufacturer as well as a significant contributor to the economy of Pakistan. After the plant visit Toyoda visited an Indus Dealership and later inaugurated a gymnasium at the Habib Public School, which is jointly financed by Indus Motor Company and Toyota Motor Corporation.
